An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a certain site. Every single file which was requested in some way will be listed, so if you have a single webpage with 3 embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log shall contain a total of six entries - one for every of the six files that were accessed when the visitor opened the page. A log typically contains the file name and path, the date, as well as the visitor’s Operating System, browser and IP address. Sometimes you may also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The info which an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It could be processed by special software on a personal computer and used to write reports on the efficiency of a site, independent of the web stats that your web hosting server may have produced.
Access Log Manager in Cloud Hosting
Our in-house built Hepsia CP includes a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. As soon as you sign in to your cloud hosting
account and navigate to this section, you'll find a list of all the domains
and subdomains you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to click on a button which will be available next to each domain/subdomain. In case the option is active, you will see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your personal computer and look at it or process it with some application. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective instantly, so if you no longer need one, you'll be able to stop it with simply a click from the same section of the Control Panel. You'll still be able to access the already developed content by clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
Our leading-edge website hosting platform will generate access logs for each Internet site hosted inside a semi-dedicated server
account, as long as this function is activated. All domains and subdomains that you have will be listed within the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, which we supply with all the accounts, so if you want our system to start producing logs for any of them, you should simply click on the compact button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and change the default Off option to On. You can deactivate this feature at any time by following exactly the same steps. You'll find a Download link for each and every log in the very same section of the CP, so you can save the content produced by our system in .txt format with no more than a mouse click. An existing log file could be downloaded even after the function has been disabled, so you will still be able to look at the data that has already been generated.
