A spam filter is a piece of software that is installed on a POP3/IMAP email server and ‘scans’ all incoming email messages in order to block any unrequested ones from entering a particular mailbox. A few examples of such emails would be: offers for pills or money, false banking statements or email attachments that contain malicious software sent with the intention to damage your computer. Spam filters usually check the content of an email message and in case they come across certain keywords or other suspicious content, they either erase the email or re-send it to the Junk/Spam folder instead of the Inbox folder. Some web hosting companies mix their own email filters with up-to-date databases from spam-tracking organizations, so as to ensure higher levels of protection for their clients. Such databases contain patterns, mail server IPs and other information about spam email messages recently detected by these organizations.
Spam Filters in Cloud Hosting
If you decide to host your domain names with our company and you choose any of our cloud hosting service
, you will be able to enable spam filters for any email account that you set up. With a few mouse clicks in the Email Manager section of your Hepsia hosting Control Panel, you can configure five separate protection levels. If you still get unsolicited bulk emails or the filters start preventing genuine email messages from entering your inbox, you can switch to a different level just as easily. The efficiency of our spam detection service is ensured by one of the most widely used filters – SpamAssassin. If you don’t want to risk skipping a legitimate email that may be classified as spam due to its content, you can also configure custom email filters based on the body, the subject or the sender of the message and re-send the emails to a different mailbox where you can read them at a later point in time.
Spam Filters in Semi-dedicated Servers
Our semi-dedicated server
accounts deliver excellent anti-spam protection guaranteed by the famous SpamAssassin spam filter, which ranks all incoming messages on the basis of a spam score in accordance with parameters and patterns, such as the recurrence of particular keywords and phrases, the sender, the subject, etc. When you enable the filter for any email account through the Email Manager section of your Hepsia Control Panel, you can select between 5 different protection levels – from very high to very low. If you still receive spam messages, you can increase the level, or if genuine emails are blocked as spam, you can decrease it. Enabling or disabling the spam protection requires as little as 2 mouse clicks and you can choose if the filtered email messages should be deleted right away or if they should be re-sent to a chosen mailbox where you can read them later, so as to ensure that the email messages that you need will not disappear.
